"Ministry of Telecommunications is endorsing SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2009. Last week, the Ministry sent letters to market players urging them to participate in the May show. In order to attract additional interest to the exhibition, the Ministry will hold its annual review of the last year's results for 900 attendees from the governmental sector and state-owned companies from all Russian regions during SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2009.

Last week leading carriers and equipment manufacturers received letters signed by Mr. Naum Marder, the deputy Minister for Telecommunications, saying that the Ministry had made the decision to support SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2009 as the major show of the telecom industry in Russia.

In order to bring carriers back, the Ministry is planning a large number of events for industry representatives during the show, including the extended session of the ministry attendees reviewing the results of the last year's activities. In the 2008 event, 676 exhibiting companies, consisting of manufacturers and service providers from 24 countries, showcased their latest technologies and products in the field of telecommunications, networks, wireless technologies, internet, satellite industry, computers and peripherals, as well as broadcasting and electronics, on 13,570 sqm net exhibition space. 29,528 industry professionals were audited on the fairground.

Alongside SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2009, the 3rd International Satellite Navigation Forum "GLONASS," Navitech Expo, and HDTV Expo will be hosted.
